Then my wife gave me a gift certificate for lessons with Virgil (Thanks honey, but was I really that bad?) When I started with Virgil, I knew a few scales but I didn't know what to do with them. After only a few lessons, I was connecting them together, bending strings and on my way to learning a complete song, including the solo. There is no better way to learn than having someone knowledgeable watch you play. Virgil will tailor the lesson to the music you enjoy. When I walk into his studio, he is hanging up the acoustic guitar from a previous lesson and cranking up the distortion. Virgil always has a custom lesson prepared for me & is quick to respond to questions after the lesson via email. I am glad my wife introduced me to Virgil. I think she is thrilled that the “noise” has turned into “music”. Hmmmm…..I think I’ll go play guitar now. Chris Virgil is great to work with as lesson times can be arranged around your schedule, when available. He can help you find equiment and sends practice downloads thru email. You can sit in on the lesson if your child is under 18 (Note from Virgil: Parents are actually required to attend lessons with minors), so you can see what they've learned and how well they are doing and what they need to practice. Virgil was referred to us by friends whose son had also taken lessons. We are glad we found him! Mrs. Donna B. Virgil has a different teaching style as he started by asking me what my favorite kind of music is and he'll teach you what you want to learn to play. That makes it a personalized strategy. He taught me how to do things and gave me specific things to practice for that week. At the end of the week, if I had any questions he would help me. He can teach you no matter if you are a beginner, intermediate or an advanced player. He makes the learning experience fun because he throws in jokes into your lesson. Wyatt B. He engages the student, listens to them and connects to their level of understanding. In the short half hour of lessons, he has it down pat as to what he wants to accomplish and does not waste time. Darrin Barlow Virgil is a great teacher; he's patient but still pushes you to get what needs to be done, done. He's a laid back guy and is easy to get along with. Lazar I have been working with Virgil for about 5 months now and have enjoyed my experience so far! One thing I really enjoy is most of the lesson is spent by me playing the guitar rather than watching how good I could be. I learn best by doing and Virgil will show me what he is looking for and then I spend the rest of the lesson doing that with the occasional critique to get me on the right track. If I have questions between lessons or if I would like to get some of the tab critiqued, Virgil is very prompt in responding. I am currently working on acoustic blues and plan to continue with Virgil as I move to different styles and eventually to electric! The following is an update from Rob: I've now worked with Virgil for about 2 years. I've learned acoustic and electric instrumental guitar pieces in addition to music theory and composition. I also caught the slide bug and Virgil showed me how to use the technique with both open and standard tunings. I feel like I've become a self sufficient musician since I've been working with Virgil, as I can now, hear music, dissect it, compose my own, and then perform it. In addition, I've had several lessons on recording music and now I've set up a great budget studio to record my results and send to others. Talking with Virgil about setting up a recording studio helped me to avoid many pitfalls encountered by beginning recording artists. If you would like to further your guitar playing, musical knowledge, technical knowledge, and recording ability, this is the place for you. little time as Virgil has. He has a laid back, practical approach that I
find to be very conducive to my personality and playing level. His knowledge
of different playing styles and music types helps to give me a well rounded

I have been taking lessons with Virgil for about 4 months now and I have been very happy with the progress I have made. Virgil is a very easy going guy, but as a teacher he still holds you accountable, which is exactly what I needed to move from "thinking about playing guitar" to actually playing guitar.
